Dance games are an amazing way to end a class! A great game can keep the kiddos smiling as they head out to the waiting room only to beg their parents to bring them back next week. AND the BEST games are ones where everyone gets to play the WHOLE time!
This colorful game will have your whole class buzzing! And the best part about it is that is it extremely adaptable for different age groups. Use it with preschoolers in the morning and pull it out again in the evening for your 7-10 year olds!
Colors of the Rainbow
To begin, grab a stack of construction paper and pull out a couple different colors. Make sure you have enough pieces of paper for every student and you will want to have multiples of each color. For example, if you have 12 children playing you might want to grab 2 red, 2 yellow, 3 green, 3 blue, and 2 purple. Carpet squares or poly spots also work great for this game if you have multiple colors!
Spread the colors out on the floor. Instruct the children that when the music plays they can dance however they would like around the room. When the music stops they must quickly find a color to stand on. Once everyone has a color, randomly call out a color! Any child standing on that color must completed a challenge! Challenges can be anything from have a dance party, show off their favorite dance move, do jumping jacks, or answer a trivia question! Mix it up however you would like!
For older students, this can be a fun way to incorporate fitness with challenges that include push ups, burpees, or sit ups!
